WeatherGuesser (weatherguesser.app) is a free browser game created by a solo developer. This page explains what data the game uses and why. If you have any questions, please email hybridx13.software@gmail.com.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your stats, settings, favorite cities, daily results and hints are saved in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. Clearing your browser's site data deletes it.

Weather Requests

To show a city's weather, the game sends the city's ID, your unit setting and your language setting to our server, which requests the weather from OpenWeatherMap. No personal information is included in these requests. Our hosting provider, Netlify, may log IP addresses for security and to keep the service running.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the game, such as which pages are visited, the type of device used and the approximate location (country or city). Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. You can learn more in Google's Privacy Policy or opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

WeatherGuesser may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent before ad cookies are used.

External Links

The game links to other sites, including Buy Me a Coffee and OpenWeatherMap. These sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.

Children

WeatherGuesser is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access or delete personal data held about you. Game data is stored only on your device, so you can delete it by clearing your browser's site data. For analytics data, contact us at the email above.
